25 years later
Another little break from portraits, but still... having fun with my 50mm lens and some of my old and new toys...
mixing two things together from 25 years apart is fun...
One of my first Christmas gifts that I still remember was our first Nintendo.
Now that they have put all three games on one Wii game, its back and not so much better than ever, but still a blast.
Christmas is about traditions and doing things from your past... well.. I guess I have to play some games!

Fusion of two
Got a chance to play around a little with my new camera
and my 50mm lens.
I've been wanting to redo some shots of my old guitar for a while.
Its times like this, where I get a chance to just do some fun work.... but at the same time.. still learning and growing.
Really not too much to these photos, but its a fusion of two of my "hobbies" that I've done for years.
I still recall when I was doing some work with my pentax k1000 film camera and doing multiple exposures when this guitar was new.... fun and exciting for both...
ive come a long way in both, the guitar and the camera (especially the camera) but... yet, it was fun, relaxing and some "me time"... and really, dont we all just need a little me time every once in a while?
Enjoy the photos... I do and love both my guitar, and my camera

Family Photographer Kent & Lorain Ohio
Family Photography...
One of the main reasons behind D C Ketcham Photography
Time flies so fast and in the hustle and bustle of life, we might forget those moments in our lives that had meaning. A portrait of your family is something to treasure forever.
I was blessed to be invited down to Kent to photograph this wonderful family.

Beautiful Portrait Photographer Lorain Ohio
We are all beautiful.
Beauty is not only skin deep, but beauty is the way that one presents themselves and how they are.
As spoken by Baz Luhrman "Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth. Never mind. You will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you'll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked. "
Being a portrait photographer here in Lorain truly has its perks. Look at this beautiful mother of three!
Truly an awesome woman. For someone who was not too interested in getting her personal photos, versus just her family portraits, she became very relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera. Her true beauty is from within and she exudes her beauty on the outside as well.
For some people, they ask, why... why get a portrait session... Wether its the time of the season, or a special event in your life
One last one...

Friendship
These sessions were close to my heart for many reasons...
mostly that these two ladies let me be that part of this special time in their lives... for one, it was her second child, and the other, this will be her first.
another reason that these were so special to me, is that these were highschool friends, and even though father time and zip codes have divided us, it didnt affect how we acted and all... even though we have grown a little since then, it was just like it was yesterday...
thats how my photography is... its personal.. its friendship... just think of me as a friend who has come by for a moment and will be taking a few photos...

Be Yourself
Whether you're a natural in front of the camera or you're a shy one, I can work with you to get the look you're trying to achieve. We can set up posed shots or you can just be yourself while I capture what I see from my perspective.
If you're looking for something more than just the traditional posed portraits, I prefer to let my clients relax and be themselves. By interacting with others or engaging in activities, you'll be natural and look better in photos.

Prices and Structure
My style is fresh, photojournalistic, and timeless.
My portrait sessions produce more than just pretty photographs. I capture authentic moments: your essence, your love, your relationships, and your beautiful history. I am a storyteller… and, this is your story.
Working primarily with natural light, I capture memories that will last a lifetime.
On average my sessions last a minimum of an hour or more ... and usually more
I love artistic imagery and the photojournalistic approach to photography because I believe it tells a beautiful story.
All portrait sessions include my time, talent, professional retouching, and the processing of your images. I have thought of doing where no prints are included, but why... I believe that you have to have something tangible no matter what so with each session you get a minumum of four prints.
If you are interested in detailed prices and package information, please email me: dcketchamphotography@yahoo.com
Prices are based on locations within the Lorain area. Should I need to travel outside of this area, an additional travel fee will be determined.
I love doing portrait sessions and look forward to telling your story!

Why so difficult...
case in point... i had this great idea for our "we're moved" cards and all and so in my head I went over and over.. then tried the set up and the lighting wasnt working for me, so waited another day.. and right what I wanted in my head.. so, i brought the kids out to help me but thats when their listening ears went off...
We were able to get the shot that we wanted, but.. of course not all looking the same way, etc... but... I love taking photos of children, and especially toddlers as their expressions and mannerisms are great.. but when it comes to my own i think my own frustration kicks in and then its downhill. But with other kids, it just flows perfect and I get the shots I want, and the parents want : without the frustration
I get some great shots and actually too many, that we have soo many that are frame worthy just sitting... but.. now with the new house maybe those will turn into my wall....
all in all.. photographing children is a passion.. im looking forward to a few shoots that I am working on...

Portraits
Fun portraits that capture your personality are the most treasured of memories. For yourself or as a gift for a loved one. Professional portraits are an important addition to remember all life stages. Don't put it off any longer, give me a call today to book your session at a convenient time.
Family and individual sessions are available at a very reasonable price. My studio, your home or a picturesque location. Allow about an hour for a family shoot with 2 or 3 children, a little more time if more people. Think about where you might like to place portraits in your home and choose the style of portraiture and clothing to suit this use. Individual portraits also take around an hour allowing for more poses and some time to relax in front of the camera. Often the last images taken are my favourites as I find people are more at ease in front of the camera and it really shows.
Portraits can be formal or relaxed or even a little of both. It is good to choose complimentary clothing for each person, while everyone does not have to be dressed the same. paying attention to non clashing. can make all the difference.

An Evening at the Park
After a very nice storm rolled through and knocked power out to most of the city, we were given an almost eerie yellowish haze in the sky. Couple that with the storm passing and we saw a very large rainbow, but there was actually two rainbows.. yes a double.
Here are some shots from the double rainbows and the sunset that we were able to enjoy too!

Preserve
Do you want to look back on your photos in a few years, in 10 years, or at a graduation party to remember that cute little boy, or do you want to remember your precious little baby girl after you walk her down her aisle and give her away and say... I'm happy with these.....Not really, you really want to remember everything about that moment in time... the memory and the emotion.
Let's together take a moment and perserve the innocence of childhood.
